Everywhere you look these days there seems to be students trying to get ahead by getting some online college tutoring.
But does purchasing an online college tutor really work?
If you’re here then you probably want to know how to get ahead in college. I know college can be stressful, heck I just graduated a few years ago and to be honest with you. I wouldn’t wish the stress and pressure of college on my worst enemy.
Thankfully, many friends and fellow students have shown me that online tutoring for college really does work and is probably the easiest way to get ahead in college so you can go on to the top of your class. So I’m going to give you a quick breakdown of the most popular types of online college tutoring subjects and some of the scams that are out there.
Online College Math Tutoring
College math tutoring is probably the most popular subject for online tutors to tackle. It is by far the most heavily requested subject, the reason being? It’s FRIGGIN hard! Math classes can really make or break you in college. If you don’t have good math marks you can kiss your future in grad school, med school etc goodbye. College algebra tutoring is usually the most requested subject but college math tutors get requests for everything from simple geometry to advanced physics.
Online Tutoring Scams
Very simply, if somebody ever tells you that they will give you free online college tutoring with no strings attached, it’s a straight up scam. Unless they are offering you a free consultation you should RUN in the other direction. It’s not in somebody’s self interest to give you free tutoring for the rest of your degree. Usually they will ask you for your credit card number and you’ll read in the fine print that the first 30 minutes are free but then every minute after that costs you a dollar, or something ridiculous like that. Remember, no tutors work for free! If they ask for your credit card number but state that they won’t charge you, RUN in the other direction. If you click here, there is a great example of guys who give out free consultations and don’t ask for anything up front.
The advantages and disadvantages of an online vs offline tutor
An online tutor has significant advantages and disadvantages. The biggest advantage is that you usually get a really high quality tutor for much cheaper than a tutor that would meet you face to face. Secondly, online tutors are always available through skype, so if you have a question they are always there. The disadvantages of an online tutor is that you don’t get that direct interaction you usually get with a one on one experience, which can be a problem for some. But if you want high quality tutoring at a low price, going online is a great optio.
